The Ministry of Railways has released the short notification for the recruitment of Assistant Loco Pilots (ALP) across all Indian Railways zones. This is one of the largest recruitment drives in recent years, offering a stable career with competitive pay and benefits.

Eligibility Criteria (As of 01.07.2026)

Age Limit: 18 to 30 years. (Relaxation for SC/ST, OBC, and Ex-Servicemen will be applicable as per Railway rules).
Educational Qualification: While the detailed notification is awaited, typically RRB ALP requires:
- Matriculation (10th) plus ITI from recognized institutions of NCVT/SCVT in specified trades.
- OR Diploma in Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics / Automobile Engineering.
- OR Degree (B.E./B.Tech) in the specified engineering streams.
Medical Standard: Candidates must meet the A-1 Medical Standard (specifically vision/eyesight requirements).

Mandatory Aadhaar Verification

Indian Railways has made Aadhaar-based verification mandatory for this cycle to ensure a smooth process.

Action Required: Your Name and Date of Birth in your Aadhaar must match 100% with your 10th Class (Matriculation) certificate.
Biometrics: Ensure your Aadhaar has the latest photograph and updated biometrics (Fingerprint & Iris).

Salary & Benefits

Selected candidates will be placed in Pay Level-2 of the 7th CPC.

Initial Pay: ₹19,900/- per month.
Allowances: Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Transport Allowance, and the significant Running Allowance (based on kilometers traveled), which substantially increases the take-home pay for ALPs.
