Position: Operation Theatre (OT) Assistant

Department: Surgical Services

Location: Santiniketan Medical College & Hospital, Santiniketan, West Bengal

Job Type: Full-Time

Santiniketan Medical College & Hospital is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented OT Assistant to support smooth and safe functioning of the operating theatres. The role includes preparing the OT, assisting during surgeries, and sterilizing instruments post-procedure.

Key Responsibilities

Pre-operative Duties:

• Prepare and set up the operating room with required sterile instruments and supplies.
• Ensure proper functioning of OT equipment such as lights, monitors, and suction machines.
• Assist in patient preparation and positioning.
• Scrub, gown, and glove to assist the surgical team.

Intra-operative Support:

• Assist surgeons and nurses by passing instruments and anticipating needs.
• Maintain a sterile field throughout procedures.
• Handle surgical specimens as directed.
• Operate and monitor basic medical equipment under supervision.

Post-operative Duties:

• Assist in transferring patients to the recovery area.
• Clean and disinfect the operating room after each surgery.
• Decontaminate and sterilize surgical instruments.
• Restock supplies and prepare the OT for the next case.

Inventory & Maintenance:

• Help manage inventory of surgical supplies and instruments.
• Report equipment malfunction or supply shortages.
• Maintain cleanliness in OT, storage rooms, and sterilization areas.

Qualifications & Skills

• Diploma/Certificate in Operation Theatre Technology (OTT) required; B.Sc. is a plus.
• 1 year OT experience preferred; freshers may apply.
• Knowledge of instruments, sterilization, and OT procedures.
• Understanding of infection control & sterile techniques.
• Good communication & teamwork skills.
• Physically fit, able to stand for long periods.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹1,27,400.60 – ₹3,28,497.77 per year
