Role Summary
We are seeking a caring, patient, and motivated Primary Computer Teacher to teach basic computer skills to primary-level students. This role emphasizes hands-on learning, simple and clear lesson plans, and the ability to make technology accessible and fun for young children. Familiarity with Tally (basic level) and classroom lesson planning is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare and deliver engaging computer lessons tailored for primary students (grades 1–5).
- Teach basic digital literacy topics: introduction to computers, keyboard & mouse skills, basic file handling, safety online, and simple productivity tools.
- Introduce foundational Tally concepts at a very elementary level (basic entries, understanding interface) where age-appropriate or as part of enrichment activities for older primary students.
- Create weekly and monthly lesson plans with clear learning objectives, activities, assessment methods and inclusive adaptations.
- Use child-friendly teaching methods: storytelling, games, visual aids, guided practice and demonstration.
- Conduct regular formative assessments and maintain student progress records; provide feedback to parents and supervisors.
- Supervise practical computer lab sessions ensuring safety, device care and appropriate use of software.
- Coordinate with school staff to integrate computer learning across the curriculum (Math, Science, English).
- Participate in school events, meetings and professional development workshops.
- Promote digital safety, online etiquette and encourage curiosity and responsible use of technology.
Detailed Lesson-Planning Expectations
Effective lesson planning is central to this role. Plans should be age-appropriate, scaffolded, and outcome-focused. Each lesson plan should include:
- Learning Objective: What students will be able to do by the end of the lesson (e.g., type 10 words per minute, identify parts of a computer).
- Materials & Setup: Devices, projector, worksheets, Tally demo file (if used), and safety checklist.
- Warm-up Activity: Short (3–5 minute) activity to revise last lesson or spark curiosity.
- Teaching Sequence: Demonstration → Guided practice → Independent practice → Reflection.
- Assessment: Simple formative checks (ticklists, observation notes, small hands-on tasks).
- Differentiation: Adaptations for learners with varied pace/needs (pairing, scaffolded tasks, alternative outputs).
- Home Practice / Parental Guidance: Brief take-home suggestions for reinforcement (safe & supervised).
Lesson plans should be submitted weekly to the Head of Primary and stored in both digital and printed formats.
Classroom & Student Management
- Maintain a positive, orderly classroom conducive to learning and safety around devices.
- Establish clear rules for device usage and lab conduct; teach responsibility for equipment.
- Use inclusive strategies to engage all learners and manage small groups or multiple ability levels effectively.
Assessment & Reporting
Teachers will:
- Record student progress and maintain portfolios of student work.
- Perform periodic practical assessments and provide written progress reports.
- Communicate student learning outcomes and concerns in parent–teacher meetings.
