Job Description

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has officially released its 2026 recruitment notification (Advt No. 03/2026) for multiple high-profile technical and academic positions. This recruitment drive aims to fill 05 vacancies for roles including Assistant Professor, Scientific Officer, and Scientist-B.

The distribution of the five specialized posts is as follows:

  • Scientist-B (Mechanical): 01 Post
  • Scientific Officer (Non-Destructive): 01 Post
  • Superintending Archaeological Engineer: 02 Posts
  • Assistant Professor, Civil Engineering (Survey): 01 Post

Eligibility Criteria & Experience Requirements

Candidates must meet specific educational and professional standards for each role:

  • Scientist-B (Mechanical): Requires a Master’s Degree in Physics with 1 year of practical experience in testing/calibration, or a B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical/Metallurgical Engineering with 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Scientific Officer (Non-Destructive): Requires a Master’s Degree in Physics or a B.E./B.Tech in Electrical/Mechanical/Metallurgy plus 1 year of experience in Non-Destructive testing or X-Ray Diffraction.
  • Superintending Archaeological Engineer: Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering and 8 years of experience in planning and supervision of civil works, preferably at heritage sites.
  • Assistant Professor (Civil Engineering): Requires both a B.E./B.Tech in Civil Engineering and an M.E./M.Tech in Civil Engineering (Geo-Informatics/Surveying Technology) with First Class honors.

Salary Structure (7th CPC)

Selected candidates will be placed in the following Pay Matrix levels:

  • Superintending Archaeological Engineer: Level-11
  • Scientist-B / Assistant Professor: Level-10 / Academic Level-10
  • Scientific Officer: Level-08
