Key Responsibilities
- Mechanical Design: Develop and optimize mechanical layouts of traction converters, enclosures, mounting systems, heat sinks, busbars, and cooling systems.
- Thermal Management: Design and simulate air/water cooling solutions to ensure reliable operation under specified loads.
- 3D Modeling & Drafting: Create detailed 3D CAD models and 2D technical drawings using SolidWorks, NX, Creo, or CATIA.
- Material Selection: Choose materials for mechanical and thermal performance, weight, cost, and manufacturability.
- System Integration: Collaborate with electrical, thermal, and EMC engineers for seamless subsystem integration.
- Testing & Validation: Support prototyping, lab testing, and field validation of mechanical and thermal systems.
- Standards & Compliance: Ensure designs meet IEC/EN and customer specifications for safety, EMI/EMC, vibration, and thermal performance.
- Documentation: Prepare technical documentation, design reports, and BOMs for internal and customer use.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software: SolidWorks, Siemens NX, Creo, or CATIA.
- Experience with thermal and structural simulations (ANSYS, COMSOL).
- Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, DFM/DFA, and tolerance stack-up analysis.
- Knowledge of cooling systems (liquid or forced air) and thermal design principles.
- Hands-on prototyping, testing, and validation experience.
- Project management and teamwork skills.
- Familiarity with rail or automotive compliance standards is a plus.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with traction systems in railways, electric vehicles, or industrial drives.
- Knowledge of high-voltage insulation, creepage, and clearance requirements.
- Hands-on experience with integration of mechanical and thermal systems in power electronics.
