Eligibility & Age Limit (as of 01.08.2026)
- Grade ‘C’: 18 to 30 years.
- Grade ‘D’: 18 to 27 years.
- Age Relaxation: SC/ST (5 years), OBC (3 years), and PwBD (10 years) as per government norms.
- Skill Requirement: * Grade ‘C’: Shorthand speed of 100 w.p.m.
- Grade ‘D’: Shorthand speed of 80 w.p.m.
Salary Structure (Approx. Monthly Gross)
- Stenographer Grade ‘C’: ₹50,682 – ₹60,000
- Stenographer Grade ‘D’: ₹36,000 – ₹43,500
Selection Process & Exam Pattern
Selection is based on a two-tier process:
- Computer Based Examination (CBE): An objective type online test.
- Skill Test in Stenography: A practical shorthand and typing test.

How to Apply
- OTR Registration: Visit ssc.gov.in and complete the One Time Registration (if not already done).
- Login: Use your Registration Number and Password to log in.
- Fill Form: Go to the ‘Live Examination’ section and click on the Stenographer application link.
- Uploads: Upload a live photograph and your scanned signature as per the new SSC guidelines.
- Fee Payment: Pay ₹100 online. (Women, SC, ST, PwBD, and ESM candidates are Exempted from the fee).
- Submit: Preview and submit your application by May 15, 2026.
